Re: Who's Playing the Race Card?

I write a pro-Democratic satire piece called Haley Speaks (http://www.youtube.com/user/monigrammedia) and have on several occasions been accused of racism by well-meaning but sensitive readers, so I understand where the Republicans are coming from. But where I differ from Krauthammer's analysis is I in no way feel sorry for the Republicans. First, they have systematically attempted to portray Obama as 'other' 'un-American' 'scary' 'foreign' and they've overblown the guilt by association thing on every occasion. It really shows how squeaky clean Obama is that this is all they can come up with. Second, as difficult as it is to campaign against Obama and not step in the race thing, it's far more difficult for Obama to open his mouth and not offend someone because he's black. The fact that he makes it look so effortless bespeaks a social intelligence beyond anything this country has ever seen. There's an irony that campaigning against Obama is probably these people's first real experience of what minorities experience on a daily basis communicating across cultures. To them, I say, 'deal with it.'
