Why is it any time a Republican voices dissent to legislation or politicians (read: President Obama), they are automatically "rooting for America to fail"?

I just don't get it. man-made climate change is a myth. That volcano in Japan 3 weeks ago let loose more "pollution" in one day than the world has put out in a a year. Yet no one is griping about that. Someone needs to investigate Waxman and what he stands to gain from this so-called "cap and trade bill".

I love it when the great elected leaders of the failed state of California want to foist their world view and policies on the rest of the country and the world. What hubris. This cap and trade bill will make Enron look like choir boys and Goldman Sachs a lot more money to plow into Dems coffers. It will not make one iota of difference to the environment.

Obama and his minions (like this Waxman) in Congress are clearly destroy the country. This has been a long time coming but given Obama's history of both parents, step father, and his mentors being communists (five generations on his father's side) and his formative years schooled as a Muslim....we have a dangerous dictator on our hands.

Teamed up with the far, far and insane socialist like Soros and loons like Pelosi, Waxman, Franks, Waters, Rangel... and more...it's clear we have a dictatorship in process. Seems to me we might be past socialism and well on our way to communism under this regime.

fas⋅cism   [fash-iz-uhm]
–noun

so⋅cial⋅ism   [soh-shuh-liz-uhm]
–noun
1.a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole.
2.procedure or practice in accordance with this theory.

3.(in Marxist theory) the stage following capitalism in the transition of a society to communism, characterized by the imperfect implementation of collectivist principles.

Waxman, your a political hack at best. How many of you even read the bill, if there was one even on the house floor when it was being voted on. My guess is ZERO read the bill. And what happened to letting the American public view any bills coming up for a vote 5 days prior vote?????? just another lie from the Democrates. Then you present the bill on a Friday when people are not paying attention and then add an additional 300+ pages iin the cover of night that no one has time to read. Bunch of snake oil salesman is all you are. You are not listening to the American public. You are doing whatever you please and passing it off as your looking out for the American people. Waxman, you forget you work for us, we do not work for you. Say good bye to your job in 2010 and all the rest of the corrupt congress that voted for this fraud of bill. The American people will have the last word. Come hell or high water.

Whatever happened to the days when the argument was over ideology and not personal. I can accept the fact that Democrats and Republicans don't see eye-to-eye on issues like this, but why can't Waxman just say that the Republicans see things differently and here is where we stand. When did it get to the point that each opposing side wants bad things to happen to America? Can't we all agree that we all WANT good things for this country, but have differing ideas on how to achieve that?

Waxman is a joke, a political hack at best. These freedom crushing , money grabbers we have representing us are a reflection of the mentality of the voters who put them in power.
These politicians must go before all of our freedoms here are extinguished. This is not the CHANGE people voted for, it is still all about the money and their buddies on Wall Street. The climate issue is a front for what is really happening behind the scenes. Out politicians are lying to us again...big surprise!

I am still reading the insane bill. I'll bet the same can not be said for these dumb @#$%& in Congress!

The Idiot’s Guide to Destroying the Economy: a 12-Step Program Perfected by your Democrat Majority since 2006:

Think destroying the mighty economy of the United States is too big a job for you? Relax. Anyone can do it. A friend sent me a handy-dandy no-fuss 12-step program for wreaking financial havoc among even the world’s most advanced economies. I adapt it below for your edification. Your congressmen probably already have a copy. The White House certainly does. But you might want to print it out in case some opportunity for spreading unhappiness comes your way:

1. Since investors and the market in general hate uncertainty, have a vast array of conflicting ad hoc policy decisions so as to create uncertainty everywhere.

2. Transfer money from those who create sustainable jobs to those who create unsustainable jobs, e.g., the government

3. Promise to invest money in things that will enhance the country’s infrastructure, such as roads and internet access, but then practice bait and switch on a breathtaking scale, so the effort is swamped with pork for pet projects dear to Democrats

4. A sufficiently generous larding of pork can help ensure the destruction of bi-partisanship, so squandering the initial good will is definitely a very good move. After all, it’s hard to get things done when you’ve alienated people whose help you need.

5. Undermine the ability of those who create jobs by increasing their taxes so there’s less money available for investment.

6. While you’re at it, offer to spread the income around by raising taxes, in the process, making it clear to those who work hard, invest in their educations, take risks, save, and delay gratification that they will see their money go to those who do not do these things.

7. Encourage class warfare. Divide the populace and destroy cooperation, thus encouraging backlash and creating paralyzing polarization.

8. Talk up protectionism, since the beggar-thy-neighbor approach has such a long and vigorous history of encouraging depression.

9. Scare people with talk of economic catastrophe. You can backpeddle later, but the initial good work of helping people lose confidence should have a lasting impact.

10. Print money on a scale that will insure inflation in the future. Print it on a scale that will make people not want to hold U.S. debt without staggering interest on that debt, if they’re willing to hold U.S. government debt at all.

11. Instead of allowing hopeless institutions to go bankrupt, pour vast amounts of money into them, prolonging the pain and running up the cost while only delaying the inevitable.

12. Burden future generations with unprecedented amounts of debt so that the economy you ruined today stays ruined tomorrow.

My friend stresses that this list is not exhaustive. Ask your elected representatives for further tips. Or write to the White House: they have loads of ideas for making things worse. But be patient. Ruining the greatest economy the world has ever seen is not something you can do overnight. But it’s amazing, isn’t it, how much progress the President has made in less than two months? Five days before the election, he told his followers that they were that many days away “from fundamentally transforming the United States of America.” Poor things. They thought he intended to make America stronger. Fat chance.

It is funny that while all this Climate Hoax is being played out by the media and frauds like Waxman, that Alan Carlin of the EPA has written about how CO2 is a worthless gas that is not contributing to the mix.

Now I am sure that a lot of passionate, sensitive people with no scientific education, or little in the amount of talking points that have been branded into their heads would call me to task on this subject. Of course they know all of this and their team is in the consentual lead because they have all glad handed each other through "peer reviews" of computer "models".

I happen to have a bit of background in this. I have a degree in physics and studied it back in the nineties when it was called "the greenhouse effect". I found that the atmosphere is extremely difficult to model with any accurate revealations as "models" will do what you want. In reality the atmosphere is bound by many of the laws of physics, including mechanics, thermodynamics, electromagnetism, gravity, etc. The outcomes are probabilities that are influenced by all of these laws as well as the random nature of man. I left this mess and pursued semiconductors, since it was not a political venture fueled by the retarded minions with buzz words like eco and green.

These people are stupid, foolish sheep.

They have no idea what they are selling themselves out to and for how much of their future.

How do you respond to a Moron? There are no words to describe how completely disgusted I am with this cap and trade bill. I watched the debate, and John Boehner did a fabulous job. You could tell how disgusted he was with this bill. Waxman was trying to get Boehner stopped, and thank God, he failed. The ignorance of our "leaders" is astounding. They keep blaming all of this on failed Republican policies, just who in the heck do you think had a majority during the Bush years? Stop the blame, and get back to business. I agree that we need to curtail industrial pollution. Good grief it does not make any sense at all to completely cap and tax these companies out of existence. Where in the heck do you think we will get our electricity from? I think they need to take all of the coal fired power plants off line for 48 hours and see how that suits them. By the way, they say Wyoming has world class wind resources, over my dead body will they put any of those @#$%& chargers on my ranch. Yes, I happen to have a coal mine in my backyard! Wyoming has contributed ENOUGH. Let the coastal area's carry the burden, oh, we can't have that it might spoil their viewshed. Put it in flyover country. BS!!!

Sassy Wrote: We can read the Communist Manifesto in full but I think the Obama regime is using the short version! -------------------------------------------------------
The Communist Manifesto
Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels

Summary

The Communist Manifesto reflects an attempt to explain the goals of Communism, as well as the theory underlying this movement. It argues that class struggles, or the exploitation of one class by another, are the motivating force behind all historical developments. Class relationships are defined by an era's means of production. However, eventually these relationships cease to be compatible with the developing forces of production. At this point, a revolution occurs and a new class emerges as the ruling one. This process represents the "march of history" as driven by larger economic forces.

Modern Industrial society in specific is characterized by class conflict between the bourgeoisie and proletariat. However, the productive forces of capitalism are quickly ceasing to be compatible with this exploitative relationship. Thus, the proletariat will lead a revolution. However, this revolution will be of a different character than all previous ones: previous revolutions simply reallocated property in favor of the new ruling class. However, by the nature of their class, the members of the proletariat have no way of appropriating property. Therefore, when they obtain control they will have to destroy all ownership of private property, and classes themselves will disappear.

The Manifesto argues that this development is inevitable, and that capitalism is inherently unstable. The Communists intend to promote this revolution, and will promote the parties and associations that are moving history towards its natural conclusion. They argue that the elimination of social classes cannot come about through reforms or changes in government. Rather, a revolution will be required.

The Communist Manifesto has four sections. In the first section, it discusses the Communists' theory of history and the relationship between proletarians and bourgeoisie. The second section explains the relationship between the Communists and the proletarians. The third section addresses the flaws in other, previous socialist literature. The final section discusses the relationship between the Communists and other parties.

It would seem to me that any bill, which that makes it more difficult to sell your house, works against all Americans and that is one of the items included in that bill. If environmental inspectors don't approve your house or if the appliances are too old then you cannot sell it until the house has been brought up to their standards.

DC needs a whole new Million Man March to stomp down to Capitol Hill. But this time, people of all colors need to unite to tell our so-called "respresentatives" exactly what their constituents think about having their money mis-spent.

Whoever is in the White House is immaterial: it's Congress that ALWAYS wins by shorting the stock market (legally, because SEC laws don't apply to them) and by taking kickbacks from companies that will benefit from "global warming" hooey like GE.

This is so Orwellian, looking at the comments most people realize the sham AGW and this tax bill is, yet the democrats continue to push for legislation whose soul purpose is to wreck the economic system and wealth creation that made this nation the greatest in the world, an economic system that defeated Germany, and economic system that ended the reign of communist Russia, and economic system that has created more wealth, and done more to end poverty, than any other.

It is all about punishing one class of wealth while creating it for the politicians (crooks) in Washington and their cronies.

It is the Dems healthcare plan that will limit procedures for(and thereby kill) old people; and it is Dems who sanction killing children who are otherwise on their way to life(by performing partial birth abortions).

So how can we accept what Waxman( or is it wax man) says about global warming. Another lib Dem hoax to justofy the Al Gore tax.

Viva La Revolucion!

It's about time to take the pitchforks and torches out folks, set up the guillotines in front of our government buildings and put them to work (the guillotines, not the buildings...). "Cap and Trade" should help move the rest of our industries that are able to make any profit at all offshore - and take with them the jobs and the tax base. Tax receipts will continue going down and the desperate flailing of our federal government will work to make the citizens more miserable. It's long past time to beat the federal government back down to its Constitutionally provided level and let the States run their own affairs. We can offer up the heads of our elected officials to the Chinese as compensation for the money the politicians stole from them - and begin anew.

It would appear that Honduras has the right idea - remove the questionably-elected, socialist Presidente by force and recapture the country. Exile him - and restore the country's Constitution. No wonder Comrade Barack is nervous!!!

This is total trash. I can't believe this guy can even stand to look at himself in the mirror and take himself seriously. The thought that we, as humans, solely caused global warming and are the sole means of ending global warming is incredibly pretentious. The volume of voices in the man-made global warming camp isn't growing, it's shrinking or remains unchanged, at best. The number of voices against man-made global warming is swelling. One renown scientist who recently retired mentioned that she was glad she could finally speak about her unbelief due to her leaving the field. The nerve of this dude. I'm sorry, Mr. Waxman, but anytime you find a country in a down economy that ISN'T showing signs of recovering and you seek to impose more government mandated costs on the people, then you, sir, are against the country... maybe even the world. What is cap and trade going to stop, by his theory. people do not offer three a.m. amendments to something this important. (to them). It is a tax plain and simple and is not a republican democrat issue, but a one world government issue which Obama, and Waxman want. Mt.St. Helen's released more co2 and sulfer, than all of mankind up to that point. That is fact. This is flying because we are too lazy to do anything about it. Waxman is really out there. He won't look at proof that man does NOT control global warming. He should tax the sun when it has solar flares.

But more importantly, Waxman and those who enabled this farce for tax income should be impeached by their constituents. I SAY THAT BECAUSE they forced a vote on a bill NO ONE HAS read, with 300 pages of amendments that NO ONE HAS READ. They have a serious breach of duty in serving as representatives of the people of this country. What if our founding fathers voted without a clue of the bill in fromt of them? I'd say in that time period, it would be recognized as the crime it is, and that death for treason, not impeachment is what would be considered.

Oh yeah, didn't President Obama say that IN THE INTEREST OF TRANSPARENCY, ALL LEGISLATION WOULD BE POSTED FIVE DAYS IN ADVANCE TO ILLUMINATE LEGISLATION BEING CONSIDERED.

I am horrified at the vote on Friday. I have contacted my congressmen and senators, both with this and back when they voted on the TARP. I get back bromide filled letters about doing what is best even though a consensus is not possible. I am tired of being told by liberals that we are 'tea baggers' and that we have been represented, and just because we don't like it, we should die. Well, guess what? My representatives are not representing me. No one is representing the future generations that will be taxed into slavery by the government. That is not representation before taxation. None of those in congress even knew what was in the bill, and all those statists had the nerve to clap when it passed, in spite of what those they supposedly represent wanted.

It's time to vote all the statists out! It's time to overwhelm them. Even if you can only donate a dollar to their opposition, or better yet, the most constitutionally grounded candidate, it's time. Collect pennies from college students. It all adds up, and will be millions if everyone can contribute even a little.

Donate to the opposition in California elections- give and support anyone who opposes Pelosi, Boxer and Waxman. Give to whoever opposes Frank, Dodd, Reid.

It's time for the 'Silent Majority' to roar and let those sell outs feel our wrath.

It's time for AMERICANS to take back our country one penny and one representative at a time.

We cannot allow this to pass out of the Senate. It is time to march on the 4th of July. It's time for us to force our representatives to account for their actions and pay for selling us out to these Dictators.

It is worse than that RM. There are too many in this country that have representation without taxation. The majority of people in this country pay little or no taxes yet they demand accountability from their representatives.

Perhaps if we give one person 1 vote, however IF you payed income taxes, your vote is weighed in proportion to every thousand you send off to Washington. Sure Bill Gates would have a more powerful vote, but he has more at stake than a leech living in a Katrina trailer.

Waxy Waxman obviously lives in an alternate world where facts are facts only when we say they are (the we of course is Waxman & co) the absolute arrogance exhibited by this hack in this piece, with the suggestion that this is settled science bodes badly for the next 18 months when we will finally be able to get these idiots outta there!
And the lovely Andrea who still identifies herself as a journalist belies that assertion by accepting this drivel without asking any relevant questions.
I'm waiting for the wizard to come out from behind the curtain and announce that this is all a joke.

One part of the bill states that we will all have to have an energy study performed on our house BEFORE selling it. How much is that .... maybe $500. Oh yeah, we also have to bring any energy issues up to code BEFORE selling our house. That sucks for those of us who have older houses.... windows, doors, poorly insulated walls, furnaces, etc.

Also, this only applies here in the USA......so what difference will this make in the world?

Lets invest in business to get breakthroughs in clean energy - it is our only way out. Lets use AMERICAN OIL, use profits to fund energy research. Taxing us will only kill whats left of our economy. Stop letting both parties divide us, heck, when you get down to it, they are not even different.

In my dream world, we would do away with employer controlled taxation, and everyone would have to file their own quarterly taxes just like small businesses. My husband and I own a small business, and we will fire ten employees if the Obama tax plan goes into effect. I know ten employees is not many, but it will matter to our employees and their families. It will matter to our vendors with whom we spent $500,000 a year on inventory.

I have never been depressed in my life, but watching these meglomaniacs do whatever they want is really depressing me. They did and promised whatever they had to in order to get what they want. They make the Sopranos look like amatures who were just playing around.

I do not own a business, but my friend does, and thy pols in his state saw fit to raise their taxes. They are going to have a layoff and he said he is going to look in the parking lots and those that have Obama stickers on their cars are going to be the first to go.

there is no agreement that global warming is actually taking place. in the last 8 years the planet, as a whole, has actually cooled. this occurred even though there was an increase in CO2 emissions. the whole thing smells fishy to me. waxman must have his hand in one of al gore's global warming companies or is expecting a big off from GE. the problem with the politicians is that they aren't serving the common citizens anymore. they only cater to big business and big money, regardless of what side of the aisle they are on. the majority of the american public does not support this bill. new zealand and australia, 2 of the most environmentally friendly places on the planet, are starting to doubt the global warming myth. they are actually reversing the cap and trade system in new zealand.

Henry Waxman is one of the most contemptible, disgusting people on the planet. He has some nerve accusing people who disagree with this abomination of a bill of being unpatriotic. It is not unpatriotic to insist that they 1) tell us just exactly what is in a bill of this magnitude and 2) to actually read and study it before voting for it. He is the poster child for the left wing of the Democratic party; berating anyone who disagrees with him while being entirely incapable of listening to other points of view and ideas. As long as he pleases his enviro-friends, he could care less about the rest of us. And we all know he won't suffer from his own actions. What a piece of work he is!

Think maybe they were blowing as much hot air as Waxman???? OHHH, would Waxman explain to me how Canada was under 200 feet of ice about 14,000 years ago? Thank GOD for global warming, eh?

Whether you believe in Climate change or not, it's absolutely irresponsible for the government to push something so important through so quickly just to say they've tackled the issue.

Waxman trying to shut people up that disagree with the biggest tax increase in history. Hm, they gave Mattoff 150 years for his Ponzi scheme and yet more corrupt thieves pass scam bills like this one and don't bother to read or even finish drafting it before voting on it.

Obama telling us to change light bulbs so we have a Hazmat suit if one breaks. Idiots!

Now we have Nancy "let 'em eat cake" Pelosi telling us that the latest Cap & Trade TAX will create "jobs, jobs, jobs! I say bull, bull, bull!

As only a private citizen AND taxpayer there seems nothing I can do but you can. Please ask:

"Where's the beef? Where are the "jobs, jobs, jobs" promised in their last theft bill, that stimulus bill? Or the trillions of dollars in all the massive spending bills passed by these loons that don't read the bills?
" Most people know that this was a scam, a theft of our money to redistribute money to the corrupt mobsters running our government.

There needs to be a freeze placed on the "stimulus bill" and Tarp bills. If there is a "leader" out there, an immediate demand for the return of this wasteful and stupid con job!

Someone said it best, I think it was Wayne Rodgers:

We have a stupid congress and that makes us stupid for electing them.

Uhhhh...let's make that 31,000 scientist who call the global warming hoax.....a hoax.....

More than 31,000 scientists across the U.S. – including more than 9,000 Ph.D.s in fields such as atmospheric science, climatology, Earth science, environment and dozens of other specialties – have signed a petition rejecting "global warming," the assumption that the human production of greenhouse gases is damaging Earth's climate.

Yo Waxhead,

Just like stimulus, just like banking, auto makers, all the other "emergency" legislation, written but not read, voted on, but not understood by those voting "yea", this bill too will help add more people to the U-Haul fund used to run your smelly butt out of town along with all of your criminally contemptible associates, Pelosi, Murtha, et al. Hopefully the change of address will be to Kansas, Leavenworth specifically.

This bill, like all the other "programs" is a rip-off, a flat out Joe-the-Plumber redistribution of wealth and has nothing to do with climate. Even 'IF" climate change was man made (it isn't) how the heck do you fix it by taxing? Truly a Forest Gump approach, but then there is a striking resemblance.

The Patriot Act passed in a crisis and House members couldn't see the full text before voting -- SAME THING HERE. It's absolutely criminal. If they really cared about green energy, they'd have incentives FOR solar, wind, etc instead of taxing the living crap out of people so they don't have money left over to invest in green tech in the first place. I keep on seeing polls with the approval percentages. Has anyone outside the big cities been called?

I just did an informal poll of people working for a living and guess what my numbers were:

Over the weekend I asked for feedback from over 100 people from my phone book. I told each of them who I was and that I was NOT part of the media polling.

I asked three questions but probably spend a good 3-5 minutes with each because they had lots to say!

1. Do you agree with the vote on Cap and Trade? Most didn't know there had been a vote or what it was even about. NONE agreed that they wanted to see their energy bills go us and none were aware of the "energy inspections" that were part of this bill.

2. Are you happy with your health care? I found that all but three people were okay with the plan they have. Once wanted free insurance and anything the "government wants to give" them. One of them could buy insurance but didn't want to spend their money. One said that they were unhappy with the coverage (an HMO)...seems like the whole HMO deal was a Kennedy plan.
Many people pointed to the the fraud of the bankrupt Medicare, Medicaid system.

3. How would you rate the first six months of the Obama administration (Bush turned most everything over to Obama in November).
A - zero votes
B - zero votes
C - 2 votes
D - 47 votes
F - 51 would give the Obama administration at least an "F" and many with expletives

I have to believe that the media polls are not asking questions of the people paying taxes. Someone should do a poll about polling.

Leadership gave permission to members in conservative districts to vote against the bill. They knew the numbers that we needed and calculated at the end to be sure the Republican votes would be the ones necessary to pass the bill. I would imagine that the Republican traitors were facing the same situation in liberal districts.

Re: Mike Puskas' comment: I don't know that this is "beyond both parties." The trouble with Bush was that he was acting more like a liberal. Waxman is from CA. Please look at the financial hole the leadership has put that State into. His words ring hollow. There is nothing, nothing that would doom the world to wait another couple of months to really check the facts of the Bill and have a debate on the effects of paying for this elephant! Not one Congress person could have read the whole Bill and come away with concrete knowledge that this will save the world. This is insanity, greed, corruption, and no way to lead a country. To force a Bill like this on half the population that did not vote Democrat is deeply disturbing for the respect of a difference of opinion.

The truth of the matter is that this bill is being passed off to the people of this country as an environmental bill. The bill is really the biggest political money grab in U.S. history. They want to place a very heavy tax on emissions from factories and refineries. The people of this country are now so far in the dark about things that it shocks me. They are being lead like sheep to the slaughter. If this bill is passed, it will be so expensive to produce anything in this country that the few manufacturing jobs left here will disappear. Another big source of pollution in this country is the refining of gasoline. If this bill is passed get ready for $6.00 a gallon gas. The cost is always passed on to the consumer. The same news media that brings us the news of the environmental bill we refer to as the cap and trade bill never lets us know about the cost of this bill that will be passed directly to the people of this country. Don’t let them pass this bill to the people as an environmental bill. See it for what it is…an enormous money grab by the government. Write you representatives and let them know you don’t want higher gas prices and fewer jobs. This bill should be shot down.

Waxoff and the Dems have pulled a Harold Hill con on the USA; They're pushing an unneeded solution to a non-existent problem. All consumers, rich, poor and in-between will pay much higher prices for goods, services and energy because the producers and providers will pass their additional costs on to the consumer. I don't think the Obama supporters will be expecting this kind of change as they're being bent over a log and told to 'squeal like a pig'. The good thing is that this might anger enough people and the bums will be voted out in 2010.

Waxman, you are an arrogant hog-nosed POS. The people were voting for YOUR failure. Mark my words- if you and that @#$%& up bunch in Con-gress continue to take food out of families mouths for your scams.................

To all here- get out and work to remove these fools from their seats, then get people in who are going to repeal all this freedom-denying legislation.

In Waxman's world, if your opinion differs from his, you must be an enemy of the state, of the world, and, most of all, an enemy of Henry Waxman. He is a Napoleonic caricature whose only goal is amassing more power. His primary redeeming value is that his flat balding head is a suitable surface upon which to rest a beer can.

How he manages reelection every two years is one of the unanswered miracles of democracy. Most likely, his electoral success is the result of the shameful public education/indoctrination of his constituency. Mencken was right about voters: “The aim of public education is not to spread enlightenment at all; it is simply to reduce as many individuals as possible to the same safe level, to breed a standard citizenry, to put down dissent and originality.” He was also right about politicians: “If a politician found he had cannibals among his constituents, he would promise them missionaries for dinner.”

Let's all eat the evil oil companies!

Waxman and other Democrats are simply full of it. They can't prove green house warming. As a matter of fact records indicate the earth has cooled 1 degree. I am sure this along with many other left wing decisions willl backfire by the next election and it will look like they have been ejected from their seats of power in 2012. Give them enough rope they will hang themselves with global warming hasn't been proved but jobs will have been lost due to their decisions. utility bills will be through the roof and poor people will suffer along with the middle class. Some companies may disappear and they will not have Republicans or George Bush to fault. Let them push on to destruction! Please don't slow them down!
