We've gone through the looking glass...the sensible comments made by Ms. Bachmann would be viewed by those like Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann as something radical. I choose liberty too! How much can we prevent before we get to work righting the wrongs of the next two years?

I feel like I am in a nightmare and can't wake up!! What the HELL is happening to our country???
There is such ignorance on the part of the American people, it boggles my mind.... it is downright scary! What does it say about the American people? You’re more interested in the degenerate pedophile Michael Jackson, and the likes of him, than realizing our country has been taken over from the enemy within!
America deserves the Government it is now getting... and GOD HELP US ALL!!!
Our freedom is being stripped away at an alarming daily rate people, and you are too stupid to even realize it!!! And once it is gone, we will never get it back... or it will be @#$%& near impossible to get it back, how sad! We will be the ones rioting in the streets wanting our freedom back, like IRAN, whoops… too LATE!!!
My heart breaks for all of the wonderful and patriotic servicemen and women who fought and those that DIED for our freedom!!!
What an utter disgrace that American's have chosen their own demise and they don't even realize it. And if and when you finally realize your country and all the wonderful FREEDOM AND LIBERTIES you took for granted are gone -IT WILL BE TOO LATE!
There is evil in the world and it has infiltrated our United States Government…. At least I have the “freedom” of speech to say that, but not for much longer, I’m sure of that!
Nice job America.
I PRAY; GOD HELP US, PLEASE.

Liberty or Tyranny? Tyranny?

Bachmann is a moron. Cap & Trade might not be the best idea (who knows but one argument claims that this measure might be the stick that gets us off foreign oil), but it isn't going to lead to TYRANNY. What absolute crazy hyperbole. Why not just say that you're concerned that this will raise utility bills for the average American above an acceptable level? Bachmann just can't help herself -- she wants to sound courageous and patriotic, but she just always ends up sounding like a retard.

William F Buckley. I really miss you. These republicans are a pale comparison.

Thank you Congresswoman when we begin the movement to "throw the bums out" we will leave you off the list. I have always been a low ball spender on candidates. I have 20 grand in my savings account that will be worthless soon. I will be spending half of that money in 2010 and the other half in 2012. Let us let this be the "last har-rah" of the tyranical left that proposes to save the world by bringing us all down to the lowest level leaving only the "ruling class" on top. Join with me fund the candidates of either party that will stand with liberty, tolerate no couching of terms or fuzzing positions for popularity. We do not need populist politicians we need honest ones. Let us resolve to demand accountability and investigation of abuses of the public trust of either party. Let us feed the tree of liberty with the manure of corruption.

Today and this bill was the first time I have been so motivated to call congress myself. We need more congressmen/women like this who stand up for us "The American People" and not themselves and special interest lobbys.

I've called my representatives and written my representatives. After the first stimulus bill was rushed through I was in shock. Shock has grown to disbelief. How can we stop this runaway train?
It's incredible that 44 democrats did not vote for this bill, but 8 Republicans gave it to them anyway. What has happened to my conservative Republican party? Thank you Michelle Bachman!

Are you willing to dump our economy to get us off foreign oil? We could drill off our coasts, we could develop our shale, we could expand nuclear power. We could help bring the natural gas pipeline from Alaska and expand our use of natural gas. Wouldn't that help get us off foreign oil and not trash our economy and create much needed jobs? Somehow it seems much more logical to me than some trumped up cap and trade scheme that will end up costing us more for food, heat and all our necessities. This is a travesty!

shawncrisp Wrote: Kary YOU ARE THE MORON! This congress has voted for a bill that they have not read (the point made by the representative from Ohio that took him over 1 hour to glance through some lines in some pages!). What happened to transparency? There were pages added in the middle of the night that representatives needed an interpreter to be able to understand!
Thank God this bill still has to go through the senate where I pray people will have more sense than to vote for this monster that will do nothing for the environment but will do a lot to cut our choices. That is why 44 Democrats voted against it and they should be applauded just like the 8 Republicans who voted in favor should be repudiated. Bachmann is correct, this is a mater of liberty. If you want to go back to being a child and this time around have the government take care of you and tell you what to do or not, be in favor of the bill. For all of us who are grown people and know our rights, do not abuse them and want choice -WE SAY ENOUGH! Again Kary, you are the moron! This bill will not create jobs, it will destroy them!

The EPA states that American jobs will be displaced. Obama, himself, told campaign audiences that Cap and Trade would bring about large increases in utility bills. CBO has stated that this will have a chilling effect on our economy. The bill places control of our energy with the EPA politically appointed bureaucrats that are not accountable even by elections - this same EPA who in the past banned DDT after a judicial proceeding with evidenciary rules and many witnesses found that DDT did not harm anyone except mosquitoes whose deadly malaria have ransacked young throughout the world until the WHO finally wised up and reinstated its use. The estimated cost per family will be $3,000.00 annually - for what ... it will go into a slush fund and get spent by politicians in a short term spiral to buy votes. Medicare/Medicaid are implemented similarly - and the result is an 88 trillion dollar deficit (our GDP is only 15 trillion annually and presently shrinking). There are those that note that the debt held by foreigners (China, Europe and the like) will be repaid with dollars whose buying power have been significantly reduced due to the hyperinflation that is sure to come as a result of the 15 trillion dollar debt just undertaken within the first 5 months - a private sector that has been ransacked as a result of historical poor decisions and increased government costs (regulatory, taxation and outright confiscation). All this and the media thinks that the death of a talented, pedophile is more newsworthy that a bill that will have a larger negative change on quality of life of all Americans that any that have been voted on in the entire history of this country.

Its not hyperbole - its reality.

The stimulus bill (which doesn't stimulate anything besides government) and cap and trade,
continues our gallop into full blown Marxism. Its stunning to me how many "sheeple" there are,
that believe these destructive pieces of legislantion are actually anything more than power and
tax grabs.

The passing of this unread "Cap & Trade" legislation and the jubilation that followed, is proof positive that there is no intelligent life in the Democrat party!

This administration is exhibiting a propensity for fascism. Hardly a day goes by that there isn't some reference made with the word 'PUNISHMENT' associated with any person or entity that does not comply with the Masters wishes.

"Liberty or Tyranny", it is very clear that this administration chooses Tyranny!

This is not crazy hyperbole...one only has to look as far as California to see what she's talking about. The proposals to regulate the thermostat in your house... Is that liberty? CAFE standards - is that liberty? Government Motors - liberty? Firing Wagoner - liberty?

You are blind to the fact that we are losing our liberty as so quickly - a year from now when the Dems are flushed out of the house may be too late....especially if they get their healthcare monopoly. Cap and Tax will hopefully die in the Senate...but if they get healthcare - the whole argument switches from what to do, to how much to pay or how much to ration. Very scary and tyranical.

Ms. Bachmann is exactly right (and she's really hot too, but I digress), something needs to be done NOW. We need to be out on the streets like the people of Iran. Global warming is the biggest hoax since the Theory of Evolution. Any sane person can look at the data over the last few decades and see that we are simply in a fluctuation in global temps and are currently seeing the beginnings of a cool down period. It's all about SUNSPOTS stupid. How about the glaciers that are now starting to "grow" again. Haven't heard much about that on the news. It is a scientific fact that a large active valcano puts more CO2 in the atmosphere that the entire human race does. Maybe we should cap them. I know I'm rambin' but I am so tired of environmentalists running every aspect of this country.

Tyranny \Tyr"an*ny\ (t[i^]r"an*n[y^]), n. [OE. tirannye, OF.
tirannie, F. tyrannie; cf. It. tirannia; Gr. tyranni`a,
tyranni`s, L. tyrannis. See Tyrant.]
1. The government or authority of a tyrant; a country
governed by an absolute ruler; hence, arbitrary or
despotic exercise of power; exercise of power over
subjects and others with a rigor not authorized by law or
justice, or not requisite for the purposes of government.
[1913 Webster]
There are many parts of the definition that conform to the Congresswomans complaints about the Democrat agenda, and she is correct to challenge the legislation in this manner.

You are so right, Ms. Bachmann. Those of us who support conservatism and those who were on the fence are now energized by this legislation which clearly shows the Obama Administration puts their agenda ahead of the American people. This isn't over... get on the phone and keep calling your Senators!! More importantly, get on your knees and start praying for our country.

To say I choose Liberty is an understatement. It is unfathomable that anyone wouldn't, but the passage of this bill in the House shows me to be wrong - it is fathomable but not comprehensible. I have NEVER been so outraged over what is going on in our country. I will be fighting for the "good" candidates in 2010 and 2012 and hopefully as a result of this kind of outrageous legislation (even if it doesn't pass the Senate) there will be a lot more people like me fighting too!

Michelle I have always been impressed with what you have to say and you just keep on impressing me! You go girl!

Where's nuclear?
How about reading the bill?
I just see the Obama administration doing one bad thing after another with their media manipulations going full force.

Are these bills helping economically, increasing GDP, or not?
Yes , I understand externalities.
As a consistent pattern I see Obama and the democrats hurting the economy.
Look at Whaples economics on the teaching company, teach12.com.
He lays it out policy by policy. I don't like the tradeoffs here.
I fear the results in a whole number of areas down the road.

Yes, it's about freedom. Yes, it's about intelligent economics , and ok , let's not use the word tyranny.
Ask this question instead-"Does the government do things well?"
I'm a reasonable person but I see this done by the dark of night, not discussed and all I can say this is ridiculous.

Hmmm -tyranny
How about a really poor long term growth rate?
How about a lot more taxes?
How about empowering a government that doesn't do things well in the first place?
How about a little more debate?
What about these trillion dollar deficits as far as the eye can see?
What happens when we can't pay for a twenty trillion deficit-we're on course for it.
Have your kids pay for it.
Hyper inflation in five to ten years.
Where's the job creation? (I understand the spin creation but not their numbers)
More and loss of American economic power.
Oh, I forgot, Americans must be the bad guys in the world.
Where's the common sense, Sir?

Ok, let's compare Buckeley and Obama.
Let's compare the Alinsky type spin machine and William F.
Just look at all the Buckeley interviews from 1995 on CharlieRose.com
Then compare him to Axlerod, Moveon.org, and Obama.
I see a huge disparity.

I think there's a bright line here.

Is freedom lost in little bites?

You must be a Democrat, because if you really believe this garbage is going to get us off foreign oil, I have a bridge in Brooklyn you can have for a great price. You know what can get us off foreign oil? Drilling for our own @#$%& oil.

Such a clear voice of reason in a government which seems to be hell-bent on taking liberty away from Americans. Congrats to Congressman Bachmann for keeping up the fight. The Democrats and Obama and a few worthless Republicans have put an anvil around the necks of the American people with this bill. A new kind of slavery is born with this bill; slavery to the state.

My senator Mr Schumer ;Ill never forget said in an interveiw " The American people dont care about earmarks " unquote that was just the epitomy of how in touch most politicians are with the American people ; yes Mr Schumer I'll cancell my health ins because I cant afford my utility bill and ill pay more property taxes ;and now Ill pay more for energy ; dont push for nuclear energy ;clean coal and drilling wherever in the cotinental USA
just the thought of the USA pursuing an aggressive energy policy would reduce prices to us due to the world mkts affect on energy prices factoring that into the current market ( a beautifull thing ; the free market ) not taxing us for how much we use
how about tax incentives to utilities and exploration and capitol invested into the energy sector ; for getting more efficient and cleaner ;without the tax that drains more $$$ from the free market and the peoples pockets that are needed to stimulate the economy by having an extra dollar to spend at the local corner store; gees I should have finished high school maybe I would have had a handle on this economy PS yeah Barnie Frank you roll the dice again -- good idea

Imposing taxes in an economic recession is MORONIC! Maybe if this new administration slowed down w/the spending and taxation and let the economy rebound (however long it may take), Americans would be more receptive to new ideas.. This idea is CRAZY, purely MORONIC!! Let Americans do what they do best! Live and prosper in a FREE Country...

michele bachmann is a national treasure and speaks from the heart for millions of Americans. She honestly expresses her views , as opposed to so many of the Democrats who hide their Fabian Socialist/neo-Marxist views because they realize so very few Americans support their far-out, tried-and-failed views & policies. Michele will continue to speak out as long as she has breath, and believe you me the Democrats would love to choke off her breath, slit her throat, and bury her speech & views forever. That's how tolerant, broad-minded, open-minded, & fair-minded the Democrats/liberals truly are.

A Wise Common Sense Patriot from Minnesota
