Debate Wrap: Palin Wins By Not Losing
By Tom Bevan, RealClearPoliticsST. LOUIS - Entering tonight's debate, the overriding question was whether Sarah Palin was up to the task or not. Would she acquit herself well - or at least well enough - to put to rest many of the doubts about her that have been percolating among the public? Or would she crash and burn, potentially sending the McCain camp down in flames with her?
Though opinions may vary about who won the debate, it's safe to say Palin did not crash and burn. For that reason alone she probably walks away with more from tonight than Biden, even though Biden did everything that was required of him.
The pitbull with lipstick clearly had her hands full. Biden was on his game right from the start tonight, calling the rescue plan "evidence of the fact that the economic policies of the last eight years have been the worst economic policies we've ever had."

John McCain lost his fourth plane on board the U.S. Forrestal on July 29, 1967 when a rocket inadvertently slammed into his bomb laden jet caused by John Mccain’s negligence in wet starting his jet. John McCain escaped, but the explosions that followed killed innocent 134 sailors. John McCain was transferred from the badly damaged U.S.S Forrestal to the USS Oriskany. Despite graduating in the bottom 1% of his Annapolis class, John McCain was offered the most sought-after Navy assignment - to become an aircraft carrier pilot. WHY? BECAUSE HIS FATHER WAS A 4-STAR U.S. NAVY ADMIRAL! The most accomplished midshipmen compete furiously for the few carrier pilot openings. After four abysmal academic years at Annapolis distinguished only by his misdeeds and malfeasance, no one with a record resembling John McCain's would have been offered such a prized career path – except a 4-star U.S. Navy Admiral’s son!
So McCain was made a pilot because his father was a 4-star U.S. Navy admiral. John McCain was such a bad pilot that he crashed 5 fighter planes because of his poor pilot skills. Then the Navy made sure he was never in the newest planes, forcing him to fly outdated fighters so his mistakes were less costly. McCain was never in a fighting squadron. "He was thus on the outer end of the flying totem pole."

JOHN MCCAIN WOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN ALLOWED IN THE COCKPIT OF A MILITARY AIRCRAFT AND NEVER BEEN ALLOWED TO GRADUATE FROM THE U.S. NAVY FLIGHT SCHOOL BECAUSE WAS A BELOW AVERAGE STUDENT AND A LOUSY PILOT.
John McCain’s first plane crash was during a training flight in 1958 when he plunged into Corpus Christi Bay while trying to land. The Navy ignored the crash and graduated McCain in 1960.
While deployed in the Mediterranean, the hard partying drinking John McCain lost a second aircraft "Flying too low over the Iberian Peninsula, he took out some power lines which led to a spate of newspaper stories in which he was predictably identified as the son of an admiral..."
Flight instructor John McCain lost a third aircraft while flying a Navy trainer solo to Philadelphia for an Army-Navy football game. McCain radioed, "I've got a flameout" before ejecting at one thousand feet. McCain parachuted onto a beach moments before his plane slammed into a clump of trees.
The Navy dismissed the crash as "unavoidable" and assigned McCain to the aircraft carrier USS Forrestal in December 1966, which was patrolling the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean. In Spring 1967, the U.S.S Forrestal was assigned to join the Operation Rolling Thunder bombing campaign against North Vietnam.
John McCain lost his fourth plane on board the U.S. Forrestal on July 29, 1967 when a rocket inadvertently slammed into his bomb laden jet caused by John Mccain’s negligence in wet starting his jet. John McCain escaped, but the explosions that followed killed innocent 134 sailors. John McCain was transferred from the badly damaged U.S.S Forrestal to the USS Oriskany. On Oct. 26, 1967, John McCain was shot down over Hanoi North Vietnam bombing a power plant and captured by the Vietnamese.

Palin wins by not losing???
This echoes something a caller in to C-Span said this morning, that Palin won the debate because she didn't blow it.
Isn't it Republicans and conservatives who supposedly believe in "American exceptionalism"? Yet their standard for "winning" is not failing????
Seems like very low standards indeed. And it sounds a lot like what we heard about Bush during his campaigns, that he exceeded low expectations and therefore kicked ass.
And look what it got us.
