For the Public Good, Media Should Ignore McCain's Accusations

RCP Comment Policies
By Eugene Robinson
WASHINGTON -- Let's see: The financial system is still in grave peril, despite approval of an unprecedented $700 billion bailout. Unemployment is rising, the economy is slowing, and the question isn't whether we're in for a recession but how long and how deep the recession will be. Meanwhile, U.S. troops are still fighting in two places -- Iraq and Afghanistan -- where, as a rule, foreign occupations end badly. The terrorists who struck us on 9/11 have been allowed to regroup within the borders of nuclear-armed Pakistan and are busy plotting new attacks. Rarely have there been bigger or more urgent issues to talk about in a presidential campaign.

But John McCain wants us to talk about Barack Obama's acquaintances. He and Sarah Palin are going to try their best to make us talk about anything but the big issues facing our country, because most Americans think Obama's solutions are better than McCain's. (Read Full Article)

Clearly, Mr. Robinson, you don't know that the subject is what influence on his political philosophy and policies Obama'x association with a Communist, a gangster, other assorted Leftists (you, sir?) and a spiritual pastor who goddams America have had None of those people would do good for America. So, why shouldn't we be concerned with their friendship with Obama?

It sounds like it is you who want to belittle seriuos c0ncerns and have us look away at other "issues" instead of the background (qualifications?) of the man who would be King...I mean, President.

More Liberal excuse making and trying to make others "feel" less sophisticated.

Thank you Gene, I am sickened by this. People say "we don't know who Obama is". This is ridiculous. We have seen him on public display for the last 19 months. He has been calm, intelligent and has the temperament of a good leader. His campaign has been run masterfully from a business perspective and strategic perspective. Please take a look at the two candidate's health care plans. Look at their tax plans. If you do that the choice will be clear. I hope the American people are smart enough to ignore the nonsense and noise and look at the issues. I voted for Obama yesterday and hope for my children's sake that he will win.

Intellect and vision are much more important than associations.

In addition, maybe it is time that a progressive viewpoint replaces the stale traditional thinking represented by Bush and red state backwardness. It is time that this country balances its hypocritical views with the enlightened thinking of people like Ayers and Wright.

Go Obama!!!

Yes, Eugene this has been a Flimflam by the Obama campaign as he still has not given truthful answers about his past associations and everyday it seems another one has bitten the dust. William Ayers now works with Hugho Chavez who is a sworn enemy of America and yet this is a man Senator Obama worked with since 1995 on different projects one of which was to teach children how to be revolutionist and how to destroy the capitalist system of America. Now why should this not be put out to the public without all the coverup by the press? The Truth hurts Senator Obama because behind him stands people who are trying to destroy America as it is today.

Character of the person which includes honesty, intgerity, values and associations with people are extremely important for reaching a decision on how to vote for the Person. We are called racists if we say anything negative about Obama, we are called stupid if we say anything negative, and so on. Now lets go to the WGN radio and the Obama campaign trying to stop two interviews, the St. Louis Truth Squad trying to get people thrown in jail, the Obama Youth Movement of boys and children singing reminding anyone of the Hitler Youth Movement and we all know where that led.
Think about it Eugene, because if Senator Obama is elected you may be out of a job unless you want to write glowing reports about the dear leader as in the Russian newspapers on Putin.

NO, the media and the people of America should not ignore McCain's accusations. This is exactly what Obama wants American people to do and what he has been trying to avoid during the primaries. WE HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW WHO HE IS. He doesn't like being scrutinized, and questioned. Oh, poor baby. He wants to the President?? Please....Obama sits on his high horse pointing down at John McCain (true American, Military man, knows the meaning of suffering and putting himself not first but last) for mudslinging? What does Obama he think he is doing? Wearing a halo? I think NOT. Obama is a slimy, two faced scumbag, who tells San Fran elites that Pennsylvanians are bitter, gun clinging, religious fanatics. If you people in PA vote for Obama you are incredibly stupid. He made the biggest fools out of you before the entire Nation.

The problem with your basic premise is that character doe matter and the people that you associate with do reflect who your are. If it was McCain that was sitting on a board with a right wing nut job who blew up abortion clinics the press would care about NOTHING ELSE. The hypocracy is real.
